Technology

iPoint-media products are based on groundbreaking core technology components. These components are the essential ingredients for successful, scalable video solutions.

Large-scale video-switching and distribution*
An essential component for the implementation of video-based interaction applications is a virtual video PBX or softswitch. This technology is very common in voice communication, but the implementation of this functionality on video-based interaction applications poses significant challenges. iPoint-media has developed a patent-pending (Patent Number: EP1304838) H.323/SIP softswitch technology with full conferencing capabilities and sophisticated audio mixing. The technology supports “One2many” distribution by duplicating video and audio streams. The true uniqueness of this technology component lies in its scalability capabilities. You can start with a small scale deployment and grow by simply cascading softswitches. The technology runs on standard hardware, managed through a centralized management system. It offers outstanding high performance (thread optimization) as it utilizes the latest parallel processing technology.

Features:

Suitable for large-scale video distribution
Centralized management of a large number of ports
Runs on standard hardware
Call control optimization (codecs, call rate, framesize, etc.)

Firewall Traversal™*
Today's video standards present significant implementation problems due to the fact that they are not transparent to firewalls. This means that the video applications require changes to the firewall settings and policies. Firewall traversal functionality must be completely transparent to the user, otherwise administrative intervention is required that will significantly complicate the deployment process (or would make it impossible altogether). iPoint-media's patent-pending Firewall Traversal technology solves these problems completely by providing a transparent connection through the firewall without changing its settings or modifying its policies. The idea is to have a special conversion technology at both ends (server and end point), where the communication between the two is packaged in HTTP, and opens when it reaches the destination as a standard video transfer protocol. In fact, the part that transverses the firewall is HTTP based, and therefore accepted by the firewall. The Firewall Traversal technology also supports standard video appliances. In the case of video appliances, the solution includes a Firewall Traversal Gateway.

Packet-filtering compatible
Stateful inspection firewall

Integrated video end point (PC based)
iPoint-media has developed a specialized video end point that is specifically designed for the needs of video applications running on a hosted Centrex model.

Features:
Web-based application
Simple deployment
Very small footprint
No need for separate setup and installation

iPoint-media converter
The media converter takes content that is available and converts it to a 3G-compatible format, including changing its aspect ratio, down-sampling of the video resolution frame rate changes and optimization.

Deployment in non-guaranteed quality of service networks
Non-guaranteed quality of service networks may cause interruptions in the video transfer. We all know how frustrating it is to watch a video that freezes and pixelates due to bandwidth problems. Even when the voice communication is cut off, it is virtually impossible to conduct a conversation. iPoint-media has developed a technology that alleviates this problem. It identifies network congestion and gives precedence to the voice over the video and, in addition, moves to the next keyframe. This means that you will not need a perfect network to deploy your video-based application.

Complete interoperability with leading 3G gateway vendors
iPoint-media has developed technologies that promise smooth implementation of 3G video-based applications. The system is designed to work in a multiple services, service numbers and short codes environment. The environment allows multiple access numbers and multiple service providers who use the same mobile operator infrastructure.
