iPoint-media unveils its 3G hosted live & interactive One2many video distribution product
Product enables inexpensive mass deployment of 3G video calling services
Tel Aviv – Monday, October 10, 2005 – iPoint-media, a leading provider of 3G/IP applications and services platforms, announced today that it would be unveiling its new version 1.7 of Vitrage™, which introduces Vitrage O2m™, a hosted live and interactive One2many distribution product.
Vitrage O2m allows multiple callers to subscribe to live content, value-added services that involve the distribution of video and audio streams from a single source to multiple destinations.
iPoint-media’s One2many is a proven technology that was implemented and used by Deutsche Telekom over broadband IP. It is now customized and aligned by iPoint-media to be used for 3G. One2many's patent-pending technology is registered with the European Patent Office as EP1286547.
With Vitrage O2m, viewers can see and hear the presenter, and, unlike streaming video, each viewer in turn can talk and interact with the presenter. All participants can hear the conversation, because this technology is scalable, as streaming, yet interactive, as two-way communications, and unique and unavailable with other streaming solutions.
Vitrage O2m can be used in multiple ways:
1. One2many Distribution uses the system for streaming and distribution with no interactivity between the live content and the audience. Selected applications: virtual reality, adult entertainment, monitoring, surveillance, info-traffic feeds, newscasting, property protection, live TV and sports event feeds, child monitoring.
2. Live and Interactive One2many uses the system similarly to an auditorium application, where the callers can interact with the presenter. Selected applications: virtual reality, interactive shows, sports events and fan activities sharing, video chat, adult content, e-learning, faith-based services.
3. Live, Interactive and Managed One2many uses the system as above, but with the addition of policies and permissions for the callers to interact. Selected applications: interactive virtual reality, adult shows, live discussions, "ask-the-expert", e-learning, faith-based services, live auctions.
No setup is required for the presenter or live content source; it downloads from the Vitrage O2m server. The product has an integrated firewall traversal solution: Presenters can be located behind a firewall and use a private IP. This works in all environments. 3G callers connect through the multimedia IVR and dynamically created links.
Vitrage inbuilt MiVR features for customizable call flows with prebuilt menus, media content and clips enables the deployment of sessions and service selection, promotions and ads, authentication services, age verification mechanisms and disclaimers.
The administrator can create hosted service partitions and create presenters and set session parameters, while the supervisor is provided with real-time monitoring.
Vitrage O2m is targeted to 3G video telephony mobile operators, landline operators, hosted video service brokers, video services application providers, aggregators, content providers, enterprises and corporations.
“The 3G value chain is evolving from the traditional mobile voice value chain”, says Muki Geller, CEO of iPoint-media. “Availability of 3G infrastructure is great, and that applies to 3G video calling as well. But in order to drive market demand and supply, there is a need to add more applications to the value chain. The addition of Vitrage O2m to our Vitrage platform enables the addition of new applications and services to the 3G value chain.”
“With Vitrage , service and content providers, as well as aggregators, can leverage on their existing content, shorten their time-to-market and very quickly deliver new, unprecedented services over 3G/UMTS networks”, added Geller. “The flawless scalability and hassle-free setup enable users to create new revenue streams for an immediate return-on-investment and increased profitability.”
Vitrage O2m is planned to reach the market during October 2005, and is scheduled for a number deployments in leading 3G markets in the UK, Spain, and Germany.
About iPoint-media Ltd.
iPoint-media specializes in the development and sales of interactive video solutions. iPoint-media’s leading solution is Vitrage™, a video applications and services platform that targets 3G/UMTS and IP networks.
Vitrage is a complete suite of applications designed for implementing video telephony-enabled contact and services centers. It is used by the operator or the aggregator to provide services, such as customer-operator meeting points, helpdesk, campaign centers, points-of-sale, entertainment and leisure. Designed for a hosting environment, Vitrage allows the mobile operator and aggregator to license video calling functions to business organizations that can, in turn, start video services without the need to invest significantly in infrastructure, which is in line with the Centrex model.
The Vitrage platform contains three products: Vitrage ViC™, the video interaction center, and Vitrage O2m™, a live, interactive One2many casting product. Together, they provide a complete, interactive video experience for both inbound and outbound communications for localized or hosted deployments. Vitrage also includes an innovative, embedded Multimedia Interactive Voice Response (MiVR) system. Vitrage MiVR™ is a self-service solution that performs similarly to the familiar (voice) IVR, with a new dimension provided by video. The Vitrage MiVR features customizable call flows with prebuilt menus, media content and clips.
Vitrage targets 3G video telephony mobile operators, landline operators, hosted video services brokers, video service application providers, aggregators, content providers, enterprises and corporations, and is sold through telco partners.
iPoint-media was founded in 2001 with extensive know-how and experience in video applications. Its shareholders are the Israel-based Nisko Group, NeoMedia Technologies, Cornell Capital and company employees.
