GOnewsTV does not require special equipment, enabling any citizen can become a news reporter. All that “reporters-to-be” require is a computer with a webcam or connected DV camera. The PC must be connected to either an ADSL/Cable Internet connection or have an antenna for transmitting via WiFi or HSDPA.

GOnewsTV offers citizens reporters an easy to use, straight forward, web-based graphical user interface. The interface application automatically handles connection with the GOnewsTV Asset Management Server, further simplifying the process of reporting news. Once connected, reporters have the option of recording a news report or choosing to make a live report.

Two-way Video Interaction

GOnewsTV provides two-way video interaction between citizen reporters and the news studio. This enables news producers in the studio to interview would-be reporters in a one-on-one interview in order to see if they are relevant for sending on-air. Once connected to the broadcast, the two-way interaction enables them to interact with the news anchor directly via the GOnewsTV interface.

  Digitally Recording Live Events

GOnewsTV provides citizen reporters with the option to record video reports. Reporters not chosen to go live on-air with their reports also have the option to record a report. Recorded reports are digitally stored on the GOnewsTV Asset Manager Server, where they can be viewed at any time by the news staff.  A fast search and retrieval system enables news directors to quickly review reports, catalogue them and assign to future broadcasts if appropriate.
