Freelance reporters and average citizens are
often the first to the scene of breaking news. These impromptu
reporters are able to witness events as they unfold and often
capture exclusive and rare video footage that news organizations
are eager to use in their broadcasts. The problem is always how
to relay the video to the studio.
GOnewsTV enables amateur and freelance reporters to transmit
live video, from their DV cameras or PC webcams, directly to a
news studio via broadband IP and WiFi networks. Using GOnewsTV,
transmitted video can be digitally recorded for later review, or
routed direclty by the studio to a live news broadcast or
Internet webcast. Built-in two-way video communication enables
citizen news reporters to interact with the studio as well as
enabling anchors to conduct live interviews with the remote
reporters.
GOnewsTV consists of a
citizen news
reporter, connected via a broadband IP or WiFi network to
the GOnewsTV
Asset Management Server, located at a hosting center. The
server is controlled by the news production team via the
GOnewsTV
Producer, a web-based software application that resides in
the news studio. The Producer controls all aspects of moderating
and airing live reports to TV or webcasts as well as the
previewing and airing of recorded reports.
The following diagram outlines the flow of
GOnewsTV video from the field to the broadcast.
